Volkswagen’s 2020 lineup includes sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs that are fun to drive and extremely practical in their design and price. Long-time favorite Volkswagen cars have received up-to-the-minute interior and exterior upgrades, while newer models were upgraded with new functionality.
Almost across the board, Volkswagen’s 2020 collection is equipped with a Car-Net telematics system, in-car Wi-Fi capability, and driver-assistance features. Jetta, Jetta GLI, and Tiguan now have wireless charging capabilities as well. Check out some of the other updates to Volkswagen’s most popular 2020 models.
Atlas Cross Sport
For families or couples that want extra storage space but aren’t in need of a lot of seats, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is ideal. It is nearly identical to VW Atlas but is a few hundred pounds lighter and a little bit shorter. The Atlas’ third row is omitted, making room for a large trunk space (more than 40 cubic feet of cargo space, to be exact).
VW Atlas Cross Sport features modern wrap-around lights and a next-generation IQ lighting system. Its tires have excellent traction, which comes in handy if you want to equip it for towing. Similar to Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The interior includes comfortable and durable seats for which the Volkswagen brand is renowned, as well as a 10” digital cockpit display. Details such as a D-shaped steering wheel make this car stand out from other small SUVs.
At Volkswagen dealerships, we often talk about how VW cars are fun to drive, and the 2020 Golf GTI truly is a blast. You’ll enjoy precise handling and fast acceleration in this 2020 sports machine. The VW GTI is a practical solution for those who want to get the sports car feel without paying the cost. A racy D-shaped steering wheel and stylish, comfortable interior tie together the performance package.
With Golf GTI’s classic hatchback design, you can store everything you need in its spacious trunk. As for safety features, ventilated disc brakes provide high-performance stopping power, while a raft of driver-assisted technology including adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and blind-spot monitors keeps you safe on the road.
One of Volkswagen’s staple vehicles got a makeover in 2020. Its sleek, modern design is punctuated by sharp lines and striking LED head and tail lights. In 2019, Volkswagen Jetta was stretched a little to create a more spacious interior, and those changes have been rolled over into the 2020 models.
Although passengers will feel special when riding in Jetta, every feature is made to maximize the driver’s experience. Even the touchscreen infotainment center, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, is turned slightly toward the driver to quick, easy access. The Car-Net feature (available in all models) is controlled via touchscreen.
The SEL model features a wireless smartphone charger and customizable interior ambient lighting. The SE and SE R-Line models combat winter conditions with a heated steering wheel and rear seats, and wipers that warm up. There’s also the trusty features that the Volkswagen Jetta is known for — large trunk space and a fantastic fuel efficiency rating of 30mpg in the city and 40mpg on the highway.
Arteon is Volkswagen’s newest U.S. model release. It is a luxury hatchback-like sedan with a powerful 268-hp 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Despite its speed and elegant looks, the VW Arteon is available at a practical price point.
VW Arteon is longer and wider than Passat, which means that it has considerably more legroom. When comparing the 2020 model to the 2019 model, there are few changes. The main difference is that all SEL models now have standard 19-inch wheels, and the SEL Premium R-line model has 20-inch wheels.
All VW Arteon models include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment feature and 27 cubic feet of cargo space. The SE model includes tri-zone automatic climate control and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the SEL model features adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, and adaptive headlights. The SEL Premium includes a massage feature on the driver side for true luxury.
The versatility of this mid-size sporty SUV makes it stand out from others in its category. It has a third row of seats that fold down to reveal a large amount of cargo space, while the second row slides back and forth to allow more room for the back row.
The VW Tiguan also has class-leading safety features across all models, such as automatic emergency braking, forward-collision alert, and a blind-spot monitor. Another feature available in all VW Tiguan models is a Wi-Fi hotspot. Upgrade to the SE model for keyless access and heated leatherette seats, or to the SEL model for adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, and a power lift gate. The Volkswagen Tiguan provides a reliable, comfortable ride for the whole family.
And then there’s the upcoming VW Bus (for production in 2022)
One of the most anticipated releases is the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, a modern electric VW bus scheduled to start production in 2022. The I.D. Buzz evokes memories of the revered Volkswagen bus, immensely popular in the 1960s and 1970s, and subsequently released with updated designs over the years. The new VW bus has two-tone coloring, the signature oversized VW badge on the front, and like the old-school version, plenty of room for passengers and cargo. Rectangular windows are another exciting throwback to the beloved Bus of yesteryear.
Other features on the I.D. Buzz include a light strip around the vehicle, as well as LED headlights that communicate the vehicle’s status, according to Volkswagen. The VW Buzz will have 22-inch wheels and a front trunk.
